As a psychologist with over 20 years of experience Dr Lydall-Smith has a diverse skill set and qualifications. Obtaining her Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at Swinburne University in 1997 her training encompassed a variety of psychological therapies which incorporated the entire Masters in Counselling Psychology course plus a major Doctoral thesis.
Her career was built from the ground up – starting in the kitchen of a nursing home at 15 years of age, moving on to various psychological research assistant roles and later creating and managing her own psychological research teams and successful private counselling practice. Her professional life has always been split between research activities and psychological counselling both for individuals and groups and thrives when working as part of a team. Dr Lydall-Smith worked in many roles including work as the psychologist of the Northern Aged Psychiatry Assessment and Treatment team, Senior Psychologist for the Neurological and Musculoskeletal Community Rehabilitation Service at Eastern Health and more recently joining us at Precision as part of the Ascend Pain Management Program. She has utilised an array of psychological therapies both in private practice and her public health roles and a major focus of her work has been helping people
