Post-stroke pain is a debilitating condition. It occurs when a person who has suffered a stroke subsequently develops severe pain. This pain can often affect a very large area of the body.

Post stroke pain may respond to specific pain medications, however many patients do not obtain acceptable pain relief. For those severely affected, deep brain stimulation (DBS) or spinal cord stimulation may be an option.
